Summary Business Valuation (SV)
If you want or need a more detailed valuation, but still have a limited
budget, our Summary Business Valuation will save you money. We spend less time
preparing a Summary valuation because a few pre-determined valuation
procedures are eliminated, so our fees are less.
What we do
We will perform normal
valuation procedures limited in a few predetermined areas.
What we don't do
We do not perform certain
pre-determined valuation procedures that typically do
not have significant impact on the value of a small
business. We often eliminate the search for comparable
publicly traded companies, and the analysis of the
economic conditions and outlook.
What you get
You will receive a detailed written report with
our professional opinion or estimate of value with
an explanation that our procedures were limited.
What we need from you
We will need five years of financial statements and/or
tax returns plus other financial information like
listings of receivables, payables, inventory, and fixed
assets. We will also need documents like real estate
leases, loan agreements, articles of incorporation, and
buy-sell agreements.

How long does it take
Our
normal turnaround time for a Summary valuation is 2 to 3
weeks from receipt of all requested information and the
retainer.
How much does it cost
Our fee for a Summary Valuation is about 60 percent of
the cost of a Comprehensive one, and depends on the size
of the business (by annual sales) and the complexity of
the valuation engagement. Typical fees for businesses
with annual sales of less than $5 million range from
$1,800 to $3,600. A 50% retainer is required.
